Not so gay

The Spotlight section of the Sunday Plain Dealer of Sept. 28 featured a full page on the local homosexual or "gay" community.

Although we live in an age of euphemisms, I must object to their appropriation of the word "gay." I remember when gay meant happy, light-hearted, cheerful and lively. Today, because of the homosexual connotation, you cannot use the word in its traditional sense. You cannot say, “I feel gay," without provoking an unpleasant response.

From what I read and hear of the homosexual life-style, "gay" seems to be a most inappropriate designation. Miserable or pathetic would be more apt identification.
